How much do you charge?
An article by Louise Perry, band leader of - http://www.musicandevents.co.uk/artists/one-foot-in-the-groove
I really felt that I had to write another post on prices as generally people have no idea how much a live band will cost for thier event. Prices can vary, not by hundreds of pounds but by thousands. Believe me you will always get what you pay for and that applies to anything in life.
Now I’m all for getting a good deal, especially in the times we live… Read more

The Singing Telegram Business is changing
An article written by ‘Mike Collins’ the singing minstrel.
The first singing telegrams started to appear in the early nineteen eighties, quickly followed by the kissagram and the strippergram. The singing telegram, even from the beginning was usually a professional entertainer and arrived in a specefic costume to sing a specail song all about the person. This fully personalised approach impressed it’s audience but shortly after the business was hit by something called the kissagram and the strippergram. The kissgram… Read more

“Sinatra Tribute Act“ – THE DAY I MET TONY BENNETT
It was July 6th 2003 and Tony Bennett was in town. I had seen Tony on two separate occasions before, but both those times, it was at the Royal Concert Hall. Mr Bennett was appearing live at the open-air stage on George Square, Glasgow, with his Quartet. This appearance was during the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, and boy, were we in for a master class, and it only cost £5.00 to get in!
There was an outstanding collection of… Read more

This is a great question …. and the answer is a definitive ’yes’. Frank Sinatra is said to have started swing music, but in fact this music was around before Ol’ Blue Eyes arrived on the scene. There was Al Jolson and there was Bing Crosby to name a couple, but Frank brought a new kind of “feel” to the music.
The experience he gained working with the likes of Tommy Dorsey and the Harry James band set him apart… Read more

I wanted the album to be very cool and laid back and I am happy to say I have achieved that…. although it can be for others to comment if they wish. I always find the Studio very, very intense and I can… Read more

“Sinatra Tribute Act ” Smoke gets in your Eyes!
I first started singing professionally 14 years ago, and at that time I smoked! I was never a big smoker and didn’t really know why I smoked … Strange that!

Wedding Case Study
Last October the band were booked to play at the wedding of Darren and Louise at the very beautiful Woodhall Manor, in Woodbridge, Suffolk. I met with the couple during the Summer before their wedding to discuss all the music as they had opted to book the band, ‘Big Day’ package, so we would be playing for the ceremony, drinks reception and of course the party. I always like to meet in person when a client is booking the ‘Big… Read more
